Custom desktop app for glucometer data management for general practitioners
To support the launch of Fora’s new glucometer in the Czech market, Moravio developed a secure desktop app for general practitioners. The app connects via USB, manages patient profiles locally, and visualizes glucose data through clear charts and tables. Built using Electron, React, and C#, the solution streamlines clinical workflows and supports better treatment decisions.
MTE is a leading Czech company providing medical devices for diabetes care. Since 1991 they’ve supplied glucometers, insulin accessories and modern monitoring tools that help people manage their health every day.

To support the launch of a new glucometer device by Fora in the Czech market, the client required a robust and reliable desktop application that could manage patient profiles and retrieve glucose measurement data directly from the devices. Moravio was selected to lead the design, development, and implementation of this healthcare-focused solution.
The client needed a desktop solution to:
Enable general practitioners and nurses to manage patient records securely and locally.
Interface with Fora glucometers via USB.
Manage patient glucose data in a clear, analytical format and visualize patient glucose levels via charts and tables for ongoing monitoring and treatment decisions.
The key challenge was integrating several different technologies into a unified, high-performing desktop application suitable for clinical use.
We began with a complete analysis of the project scope and then moved forward using agile sprints—each focused on specific application components. As core features were completed, we incorporated client feedback and fine-tuned the solution for real-world use.
We used technologies such as Electron, React & Node.js, SQLite and C# via Edge.js.

Overcoming Challenges
The project was going smoothly, however we did hit one roadblock along the way. There were limitations for downloading specific amounts of data in the glucometers SDK, so we had to resolve these library-related limitations with custom safe-keeping mechanisms to ensure stability. Thanks to stable requirements and close collaboration, we delivered on time and within scope.
Future proofing
Fora's latest glucose meters can also communicate and download data via Bluetooth. Although we consulted with the client about this possibility, the feature did not make it into the first version of the app and will be considered in a future version of the app.
Takeaway
This project highlights how diverse technologies can be integrated to solve real-world healthcare problems. Moravio’s agile approach and technical flexibility empowered general practitioners with a tool that simplifies complex workflows and improves patient care. In addition, the new app saves both parties a lot of time and makes the whole process more enjoyable.
